Environmental Health

Council's Environmental Health Officer has many roles, being responsible for the assessment and management of risks to public health, safety and wellbeing, as well as providing direction and education to the community.

Our Environmental Health Officer provides assistance and information on a wide range of health-related matters concerning:

* Food safety

* Noise pollution

* Environmental pollution

* Infectious diseases

* Waste water disposal systems

* Pest controls matters

* Water quality, including maintenance of rainwater tanks

 

In addition, our Environmental Health Officer is responsible for monitoring and regularly inspecting:

* Food premises

* Public buildings, including swimming pools

* Caravan parks and camping grounds

* On-Site waste water systems

* Recreational waters within the Municipality

On-site waste water disposal systems

You are required to obtain a special plumbing permit to alter or install a septic tank or on-site drainage system. The application below is required to be completed and forwarded to Council, together with payment of the relevant application fees, so a permit can be issued by the Environmental Health Officer. The "Information for Applicants" document below, explains the process required and all the relevant documents that need to be submitted with your application.
