Council's Compliance Officer oversees the management of animals in the Municipality, including dog control in accordance with the Dog Control Act 2000.

Successful control of dogs and other animals relies upon education and promotion of responsible dog ownership, in addition to the collection and impounding of stray animals and administration of dogs within the district.
