General Rate for 2012-2013
Comprises of a fixed charge component of $274.28 which will apply equally to each rateable property acoress the municipality.
The remainder of each property's general rate will be calculated by the AAV (Annual Assessed Value) with a rate of 6.623447 cents in the dollar.
Council makes a general rate on all rateable land whether or not it provides any services in respect of that land.
Fire Protection Service Rate
A fire protection service rate is collected on behalf of the Tasmanian Fire Service and applied to each rateable property, based on the same property value as the general rate, (AAV).
The fire protection service rate of all rateable land within the volunteer district of:
Nubeena: 0.308400 cents in the dollar
All other land: 0.249875 cents in the dollar
with a minimum of $36.00 in respect of both rates.
Waste Management Service Charges
Council hereby makes the following service charges for rateable land;
Waste Management Charge: $59.22
Waste Collection Charge: $168.47
All residential properties in which Council can provide a service will be applied with the waste collection charge. This is not a user pays service.

When are my rates due?
- 1st Installment due 31 August 2012
- 2nd Installment due 31 October 2012
- 3rd Installment due 31 January 2013
- 4th Installment due 29 March 20013
Do I get a discount if I pay my rates early?
Tasman Council does not offer a discount for rates paid in full before a specific date.
How can I check my rates balance?
If you wish to check your rates balanace, please contact Council on 6250 9200.
Pensioner Remission
Are you a current Pension, Health Care or Veteran's Affairs (TPI) card holder? Are you a ratepayer within the Tasman Municipality, where your property is your principal dwelling on or prior to 1 July of the rating year? Please contact Council for further information and to apply for a rates remission.
What if I am having difficulties paying?
Any ratepayer who is experiencign difficulty paying their rates account should contact Council's Rates Officer on 6250 9200 at the earilest opportunity, as it may then be possible to arrange a payment schedule which is agreable to both Council and the ratepayer. This is essential to aviod Council taking legal action to recover the outstanding rates.
